Want some epic back drop? Well Makapu’u Lighthouse Trail is perfect. You can have that beach backdrop without actually being at the beach. The greenery here isn’t too lush, but a bit more of dead weeds? I mean in Hawaii we don’t really have a field, and most of us use this as a replacement.
On one side you have some grassy field, beach in the distance, and lava rocks. Then on the other side you have the beautiful ocean as your backdrop. Makapu’u can be a little windy depending on the weather that day. This session was during Sunset. On this particular day it was extremely windy, and we worked right through it. I always say let’s embrace that wind, and add some emotion to the images.
Jenn + Brandon are actually from my home state of Long Island, NY! It was pretty cool talking to them. They stopped in O’ahu as part of their honeymoon. After we did some pictures at the lookout we drove down to the beach tide pools. They didn’t want to really get on the beach to much since they had dinner reservations right after. Check out that sunset glowing in the water.
This is another perfect location if you’re trying to avoid Oahu beaches or if you wanted to have a little of both without actually getting sandy. Maybe you’ve already had a session on the beach or come from a beach town. I recommend this location for families, couples, and motherhood sessions. This is a great location to get eloped. I did an elopement last fall there. You can check it out here.
